Rare Antique German Black Forest Cuckoo Wall Clock By Gordian Hettich Sohn
This listing is for an early antique Black Forest cuckoo wall clock. The clock is by Gordian Hettich Sohn (stamped GHS on movement). It has nice housing with elaborate carved detailing. The casing is in good condition. It has a nice rich dark red tone. The lower fretwork appears to have been repaired at one point, but looks good overall. Newer mounting gear (for mounting the clock on the wall) has been added on the back. This clock comes with what appears to be its original pendulum and weights. The clock movement has a cuckoo bird that pops out and “cuckoos” on the hour and half hour, along with a gong. It was last serviced in 2021. It ran when recently tested. The cuckoo has a nice sound. The only issue that we have noticed is that the door for the bird doesn’t always close after the bird cuckoos. Probably just needs some basic lubrication. The clock is quite large. It measures 12.75 x 19.25 x 6.5 inches. The pendulum is about 16.75 inches. Please see photos for details and feel free to message with any questions.
